And on the subject of money (and the title of this post) I have some kind of upsetting news from the Defconsoft household. Due to the current financial climate a few items from my collection are going to be going up for sale on eBay in the not to distance future, in fact I am pretty much giving up collecting PlayStation hardware and am going to concentrate on software, demos and promo items. I don’t really want to give up the hardware collecting but needs must at the moment, and having a house to live it is better than owning a rare console.

So basically that means that my 10 Million Model set will be up for sale soon, along with my Yaroze and debug units, memory cards, the lot. The only hardware I will be keeping is stuff that comes packaged with software. I will be sure to make everyone aware when these items go up for sale and this will probably happen in the next couple of weeks.

Hopefully this will allow me to recoup some of my money and put me back in the black, and it will allow me to concentrate on more important matters like the Online Database which I know you are all waiting for still.

So keep em peeled for when I throw up the auctions and of course keep posting in the forums, we got quite a community building back there.

Well you could well be able to get one. How Defcon, I hear you cry. Well just trot on over to your local eBay website and throw a bid on the following auction.

Its currently at a pretty low price but I am expecting that to rise as the auction nears its end. Still it is a good chance for you to get your hands on one should you want one. It also comes with 2 controllers and the 10 million model memory card.

And in other news, the keen eyed amongst you will have seen that the Whats Hot Or Not bar has been updated. And this time we have a guest contributer. BuckyB has come up with some games that came with added extras such as 3D glasses and stickers and gives us all a few tips on what to look out for. Thanks for this BuckyB, hopefully people can start looking out for the added extras amongst these and other games and tell us of what they find on the forums.

Information on this is sketchy at best, why? Because before now it was not a reality. This little bad boy was totally unknown to me and if the assumptions I am making are wrong hopefully someone will correct me, especially if that person is from Sony themselves.

Anyway it is a silver coloured 1 meg memory card that comes in the attractive 10 million model style box, with Not For Resale on the back. It has its instructions with it and is in mint condition. It certainly fits with the rest of the 10 million model line so I am guessing this too is limited to 100 units. When this finally arrived at my house I was doing backflips in the kitchen at my excitement so I hope it is what I think it is. For now I am going with 10 million model, but like I said I will stand corrected if I am wrong. If only information on this stuff was a lot easier to find.

Well folks there we go. The marathon update is done and dusted, just over two weeks of fun packed and informative information, along with some great news finds, and some old ones that I have finally managed to bag. I have already started stockpiling for the next big marathon with a couple of things that I have found but for now I am going to warm down a little, slip back into the back end, fix some bugs and allow AtariBuff to come out of hiding and impress us with some stuff.

Did you know that during the marathon we got 3126 unique hits and the most popular update was Nike Air Force One? Well you do now. (all information was correct at time of going to press)

Also did you know I have actually managed to do an update without making fun out of AtariBuff??

Ok so here it is. I will let you make up your own minds on what you think.

Here we have a silver Sony Memory Card that is boxed in exactly the same way as the 10 Million Model Console and Controller. It comes with its instructions and even though the colour of the memory card seems odd, it does seem to come with the packaging. Is it a 10 Million Model Memory Card? Well until some one can tell me otherwise that is what I am going with, and in that case this is the only one that I know of. Colour me chuffed!!!

But what about you guys hey. Well I promised you something very very rare so how about a 1 in 100 shot? Yes thats right its 10 Million time again!!!!

Isn’t she lovely? With the same midnight blue coating as the console version this lovely specimen really is a joy to hold and use, and yes it is 1 of 100 given away in the PAL territory to celebrate the shipping of 10 million PlayStations. Did I mention it is in mint condition? Well it is, the box is practically perfect and it comes with all its paperwork.

Another time for a piece of the grail. The 10 Million Model controller was given away at the same time as the 10 Million Model Console. These are extremely limited in number, and this one is in pristine condition. A great find that I am really chuffed about.

Nice aren’t they. Logo branded Nike’s. Now as I was saying not technically PS1 items, as this post over at MyAirShoes.com states.

There will be only 150 pairs released of these Sony Playstation Nike Air Force Ones. Sony will be distributing them to celebrities and VIPs to promote the release of the Playstation 3 later this year. They will run for over 2 grand and will be the rarest Air Force Ones from Nike.

However there is a shadow looming over this item and that is their legitimacy. I have no idea if they are actually real or extremely good fakes. Lets just say I didn’t run for over 2 grand on them. My research has turned up nothing as to how to check for fakage or not so unless some helpful soul can tell me of a way of finding out if they are real or not I will just have to go with undecided at the moment. Still they are very nice items, and I am happy to have them in my collection. (They have been filed under the Other Stuff section.)

Well there you go, hopefully makes up for two days of guns. Tomorrow is undecided at the moment. Might crack out another limited edition to get AtariBuff back into denial again.

Finally as far as new finds go, well I did manage to win an auction for 473 PlayStation demos, which I picked up yesterday and still need to go through so I am sure the demo section with be updated soon. I am also going to add a Promo section for all the Promo versions I have of games to be shown off. Also managed to pick up a nice Space Invaders plus Controller pack from Australia so waiting on that to arrive. As far as the standard game collection goes, I have managed to knock another 20 or so off the list so hopefully that will be complete soon, I will need to update the game pages to reflect this won’t I.

Well here it is, my personal Holy Grail when it comes to Playstation 1 hardware, the 10 Million Model, Midnight Blue Playstation console. These console came in very limited numbers, more than likely less than 100, and were made up to celerbrate the PlayStation console selling 10 million units. As you can see from the label this is a PAL version, but they were also made for the US and Japanese markets as well.

With this console being made in such limited numbers you can probably understand why it is my personal Holy Grail. It is not a mint example, the box is a little roughed up and I believe it should of come with a Midnight Blue controller as well. It may not be complete however to me it is my greatest find and I am chuffed to bits with it.
