I agree with AtariBuff. I think it’s not a limited edition but a promotional item. Maybe meant specifically to be rented, so people could try (and then buy) the game.
Hey, maybe even a press edition, without press CD 
Hmmm… Defcon, can you tell us more about how that kinda stuff worked with magazines? I mean, what/how games were sent to the magazines to be pre/reviewed. If anyone here knows, it’d be you.
Whatever it is, it’s definitely not a “Limited edition” in my book. LE’s should come with goodies like books, music CD’s, statues, t-shirts, anything!

You see this is why I hate you lot. You make me explain stuff all the time.
Remember guys, while technically it does not fall under ‘our’ definition of what Limited Edition is it does state on it, as well as the C-12, Limited Edition. It was produced in limited numbers and therefore must be considered limited in some format.
I will try and find some time later to explain how ‘Promo’ disks are used in the industry which may make people see these things in a different light.

“LIMITED RELEASE” is what it is, NOT a “LIMITED EDITION”.
Therefore it’s collectible to some folks BUT it’s not part of a complete collection.

Surely if its collectible to some folks then it is part of a ‘complete’ collection. But what is a complete collection? The answer to that is different for everyone. To me a complete collection is every PAL game ever released in standard form. Something you have and I do not. I do not include my limited and special releases as part of ‘my collection’. Those are part of my limited edition collections. etc.
Like I said above, under ‘our’ definition of limited edition, once again this is subjective. Who are we to decide what a limited edition should be catorgorised as? Well we know a little about PS1 games and releases so I guess we can hazard a good guess but we don’t know everything.
Now these releases, along with another I still have to put out are very strange to me. I have seen promo version, hell I have been given promo versions by other companes. These do not look like those promo versions. Yes they have promo version disks in them but the material and covers that come with them do not scream press versions. This latest one reminds me of another game I have in its look, this one to be precise.
I guess what I am trying to say is to me these are limited editions. However as per the PAL Database standard they are not.

I get your drift, Def.
My definition of a ‘complete’ PS1 PAL collection is each and every item (=GAME and incarnations thereof) that was publically released (go shop, handing money, take item, enjoy). thats what the PAL database is about.
Now, that’s just the “every guy” definition but we have to set a standard. Tomorrow someone comes and says, the 7″ toy beanie from Soccer Kid is also an integral part of a PlayStation collection or a sticker that was handed out to 5 employees in a factory in Wales.
What I wanna say is: ALL is collectible to some people out there and also IS part of HIS collection
