I’m curious. There seems to be specially designed rental versions out there. Please don’t laugh, this is pretty new to me.
It says “rental only - not for resale” on the disc. And the back explains game controls and actually how you remove the CD from it’s case.
How scarce are these? Did many games get pressed in such a way?

I’ve been to a couple of shops who used to rent PS-games, and as far as I can remember, they were all regular games with regular CD’s.

Most of the rental versions you talk about come from the Blockbuster video chain here in the UK. They used different cases to standard PAL releases and did not include any instructions, these were printed on the reverse of the box like you said.
As far as I am concerned these rental versions are dirty, filthy, stinky horrible things that should be cast into the depths of hell!!!
They are in no way special to anything else as far as I am concerned and I wish that I would stop getting them sent to me in bundles from eBay.

I have just 2 rental versions in their plastic case:
- Twisted Metal
- Zero Divide 2
Man, the mathematical questions are getting harder as we speak

I also have a regular manual with Twisted Metal though the instructions/controls are always printed on the back sleeve of the plastic case.

There is I think a complete copy of Need for Speed (or a game like it) that has on the front insert large triangle hologram that stats “only for rental, not for sale” other than that it seems in fair nick at my local video store, should I put it up? they only want 10 big ones.
