I know ;)

Sony funnily published all of the 10 first releases (8 titles of them were launch titles) on their own, hence the SCES code. The first SLES number actually is SLES 00013 and belongs to “LOADED” which was therefore the first title NOT published by mighty Sony themself.

Does the SCES/SLES-numbers match with their release dates? Example: 00001 came before 00002?

Perhaps a stupid question, but i’ve been wondering about this.

yes, there is a general trend that they match with release dates.
But as these numbers were given to publishers during production it can happen that game “a” sles 00345 came out 5 days before game “b” sles 00344.
Also country variants have sometimes completely other numbers not related to the number range of the UK release.

Games also got cancelled during pre-design stage or production so that’s why many SLES/SCES numbers in between were not used at all.
