Hello again!
I??m thinking about buying a copy of Wipeout, in the thick doubledisc-case version. Now I thought someone here might know if it should be a second disc included, like a demo or something?
Thanks in advance!

Nope it just came as a single disk in a double case, much like Worms, Doom, and Tomb Raider

Never understood the point of it myself. Four disc games like Koudelka or X-Files, fair enough, but one disc games? Weird.

Legend has it, that the single jewel cases weren???t ready when Sony released the PlayStation in Europe.

If that is true that is a great fact
Also thanks to coop I am currently investigating a 2 disc version of Doom I had never seen before. Know anything about it?
(Linkies) Of course maybe I should check my own version.

yes, I got that statement from different sources that too less of the regular type jewel cases were ready at launch as the Japanese and US releases have different jewel cases and could not be used.
For example launch title “JumpingFlash!” was only released in a regular type of jewel case as this was one game, available regular cases were allocated to.
they just bought double CD cases from the music industry and printed the front and back cover inserts to fit them.

… and, yes, a bigger picture of that ‘bonus demo disk’ and maybe s SLED number or something like that would be fine. The winner of that auction is coop, I assume?

Hi guys,i can tell you that the second disc is a one level demo disc not for resale.I have emailed a larger photo of this disc to Defcon.
Still dont believe Doom came out in a limited edition.
Has anyone else come across this demo disc?

Here is the image Coop is talking about. I still find it hard to believe that this actually comes with Doom itself. I mean why add a one level demo for a game that you just bought that has all the levels in it?

I suspect is was placed in there afterwards. Makes no sense otherwise. Doom funnily has like a few other games a CD holder in the second case compartment of the Double-CD jewel case. Many other games have a simple plastic insert which don’t has the ability to hold a CD.
Thanks for the picture.

That disc is most certainly something you can find separately. It makes no sense that the same game comes with its own demo. And by the way, I noticed those double jewel cases are actualy the same cases that came with Mega CD games.

The demo disc is from Un-Official PS1 magazine and was given away on the cover when they reviewd Doom and had the exclusive review.
The original copy of Doom was fat 4 disc case version BUT when i bought it originally was only one lovely disc inside, Doom game disc.
Wasnt it something to do with production of the cases ran so low at one point they had to excess 4 dics case versions and just started packing those to clear? Dunno if thats a legend though.

Nope, that's a confirmed fact - I posted this elsewhere on the forum.

Back to the WIPEOUT question…
I have the first wipeout in a double case and mine actually comes with a demo with Overboard, G-Police, Shadow Master etc on it.
Sorry to throw a spanner in the works, but yeah, it seems there is a version that comes with a second disc. Mine comes with two manuals aswell… not sure if that's normal… one has three languages on and the other has another three language

Two different versions do exist if I'm not completely senile but I will post all information after consulting the all-knowing PS1 PAL database tonight.
Watch this space.
