Everybody knows that I'm collecting sealed games.
Recently I bought another MGS (I already have one), cause I thought it's the UK-version.
I got the game and it's also a German version.
Here are two pics:

Yes I have two different MGS as well. One has the Silent Hill Demo included and 1 does not. There isn't even space for the extra demo disk in the 2nd one.

Folks,
the all-knowing PlayStation 1 PAL Database, which will be online here sooner or later knows of two versions:
- CDs marked SLES-01507 & SLES-11507, country code on Spine DE 7020067/D: A 2-CD set. Packaged in a Double-CD case with the “Silent Hill” Demo-CD (SLED-01735). A small “Silent Hill” manual/poster accompanying the demo is included (0430118983/D). A round red sticker “Export” is on the front jewel case!?
- CDs marked SLES-01507# & SLES-11507#, country code on Spine DE 7010426: A 2-CD set. Packaged in a Double-CD case but has no “Silent Hill” Demo-CD included. An ELSPA “15+” rating is printed on the front cover which is not the case with the DE 7020067/D release. Also the colors of the front cover differ a bit. Maybe this release is packaged with the DE “Metal Gear Solid Premium Edition”?!
Hope this helps.

I think the one with the Silent Hill demo is a Austria/Switzerland version while the Germany version comes without the demo, because if that demo is rated 18 or even indexed the whole MGS game would be rated 18/indexed so they left out the stuff we Germans aren't allowed to see.

To be honest, one of the last things to finish concerning the PlayStation 1 PAL Database is the German/Austria/Switzerland country variations - if they really do exist!
Lemme explain:
The Austrian (A) and Swiss (CH) markets are pretty small and I suspect that for the games that got censored or indexed in Germany, Sony used the multilingual English release for A/CH whenever possible.
@Metal
Your good suggestion could be possible but on top of my head I believe that the MGS Limited Edition CDs of all country variants have the # as well. Will check all my copies when @ home tonight.

Well, for PS2 there were those variants, for example GTA3 and Vice City, not sure about the other parts.
Even Netherlands got some variants, so why not A+CH on PS1?
Oh and MGS has different numbers for different languages, like 01506 for French vers. or 01508 for Italy.

I did NOT find the # on my English release of MGS Limited Edition so you may be on to something, MetalSnake. I want to go for your theory that the release with included demo CD is the A/CH variant but there are some problems turning up.
EN release EN 7020067/A NL release NL 7020067/B FR release FR 7020067/C DE release DE 7020067/D - this one has the demo CD included and should be the A/CH variant according to you DE release DE 7010426 without demo CD which has the # markers IT release IT 7010464 without demo CD which also has the # marked on the game CDs
Now inspect the country codes - both with # marked on game CD have a different one -> 7010… one and no letter after the number. Italy does NOT have the index or censorship like Germany does so why is there a #-marked IT release??? I'm sure there exists an IT variant like 7020067/E or something.
Further investigation needed!
