Basically it is a way for you to keep your bookmarks all in one place and online (therefore if your machine goes down you still have them).

The social part of it is that you can share your bookmarks with friends, or other people.

Sites like Del.icio.us are good for this. Sites like Digg or Reddit allow you to post sites you think other people might like to read, if you submit a site it is shown on the website for people to see. If people like it they can ‘vote’ and this will raises its score. The higher its score the longer it stays in the prime areas of the websites and therefore more people get to see it.

So for example I have Dugg the All Pal Games page, the more people that also Dugg this page the more votes it gets and the higher up the list it goes.

Well it works something like that anyway.
