Ive only a handfull of games at the moment say around 10 ive just been picking stuff up i had first time around and games i always wanted but never got
Just a quick question for you both which is the hardest lightgun boxset to find? And what sort of prices should i be looking to pay? Ive seen plenty of Time Crisis sets on ebay but im guessing the others are quite hard to get hold of.

The hardest would probably be Maximum Force, followed by the Die Hard sets and then Ghoul Panic. The rest tend to appear quite often.
There are places you can even get Time Crisis Project Titan still sealed.

Yes, Maximum Force (a French exclusive) is the rarest of them all. Defcon still wouldn't have one when “that Austrian” wouldn't have been that nice and won one for him

Hi all,
Nice site . I'm Stewart, 28, UK. Mainly a Sega collector ATM, but i've nearly finished my PAL Megadrive set and am looking for a bigger challenge as i can't see the Saturn and Dreamcast sets taking me too long. I'm currently researching the PS1/2 to decide whether or not i want to turn the piles of games i have for both into full set collections. No offence, i'm a big fan of both consoles, but both seem to have there fair share of really crap games, so i might need a bit of convincing to go for a full set. Does anyone have an interest in console box variations?

A big welcome, Stewart.
IF you decide into beginning a PS1 or PS2 collection, please do yourself a favour and let it be a PlayStation 1 collection. PS2 has so many bad games released that it's real horror.
The PS2 overtook the PS1 in its number of game releases and outnumbers EVERY other PAL system in sheer quantity.
I have some PAL PS2 500 games around here but I think that that's just a quarter of all PAL releases!
Anyway, have fun on this forum!

I can only agree with AtariBuff on the amount of pants games the PS2 has got compared to the PS1. There were some real turkeys released for the PS2 in the last couple of years.
And as for console box variantions, I have a few already in the hardware section, and endeavour to collect as many PS1 variants as I can.
Finally welcome to the forums.

Hi people, I'm VERY impressed with this site great work all round by the way. Just stumbled apon it looking for a CD32 game of all things, was lead to one forum with a sig with to this site on it. It said PAL and PS1 so I was THERE!
Been collecting PS1 PAL games now for about 10 years now on/off, bought on PAL launch in UK becuase I never sold any of my games I had a head start on some rare titles. Am 27 and have collection of about about 160 pal games where I live now and about 50 back home in Glasgow and about 45+ official ps1 demo discs there also. My latest purchase was Disruptor which I have been looking for since I played it originally a long time ago, loved the FMV.
Am looking forward to reading more on this place and it's being bookmarked now thank you.

Hi Family Fry,
great that you finally arrived in PlayStation 1 PAL collectors heaven (or hell if you ask the Defcon guy ). Feel free to stumble and search around and just ask if we can be of help.
A PS1 at launch - cool, so you surely have all those rare games like Hebereke's Popoitto and Street Fighter: The Movie in mint condition sitting on your shelves.
Do you remember limited editions being sold in the first few years?

Im trying to think back, remember Playstation symbol merchandise being sold and Wipeout T-Shirts by Designers Republic.Thats about it. Cant remember iif any special ed games came out though, I vividly remember Street Fighter Alpha 1 coming with a Resident Evil FMV disc from HMV uk, had £5 off when you exchanged the FMV Demo Disc for a pre-order. Had green label on box and demo inside, that was HMV excluisve as it has HMV printed on the Resident Evil Disc.
I got loads of my old merch and notes in Glasgow with me games, will bring some stuff back when I goto visit, got some PS1 posters and flyers/catalogs.
I got Street Fighter around launch time, remember being amazed by it (oh dear!) Hebereke's Popoitto on the other hand, has eluded me on saturn and on ps1 will get it one day though.

That FMV Resident Evil demo CD should interest the Defcon guy, I think. Hebereke's Popoitto eluded pretty many buyers at launch time - it's one of the most sought after PAL releases. Funnily, also 'that' Street Fighter game with Van Damme (ugh) is pretty rare.
Anyway, welcome on board - show us all the stuff you have in your collection and have a great time here

Hello,
I'm not really new here, but wasn't here in a long time, so I thought I will write in here to say that I'm (sort of) back.
I wonder what's new with you guys. Would like to hear from you.
Our German PS1Freaks project seems to be dead (can't contact Schmidi, he isn't answering anymore ). So I wonder what happens with my mags I sent to Atari Buff, will they ever see a digital live?
On my site, I will move out soon, so money is (even more) rare and I won't buy any “new” games anytime soon. But I have alot to play in the future though. My newest stuff is a Wii with Mario Galaxy, Super Paper Mario, Mario Kart Wii, Wii Play.
Hope we will have a good time in here.

Hi Snakey
nice to have you back.
Yes, the mags you sent me are taken care of and will be scanned and put online. The PS1 PAL Database is taking all free resources I have at the moment but there will be time to start the online magazone database.
Schmidi also didn't answer my mails, he owes me money. Not very nice of him.
Anyway, check by often and post, post, post

Hi PS1 Collector,
nice to have you here and thanks for the collection pic. That's a nice space you have reserved for the games there and the jewel cases itself seem to be in very good condition.
If you have any questions simply ask - it's a nice, friendly and (hopefully) knowledgeable place here. I have a complete PS1 PAL collection and Defcon is on the way of finishing his. There is pretty useful info already posted on the boards but we're eager to answer questions. Also if you are looking for games, Defcon and I have some neat spare ones.
If you have more pics of your collection you are welcomed to show them. Do you also collect Limited Edition releases?
Later,
AtariBuff

Hi there, welcome to the site.
Thats a mighty nice collection you got started there, looks like all of them are in pretty good nick. Only about 1000 more to go
Don't worry, it gets harder as you go on.

And most importantly DO NOT FEED HIM AFTER MIDNIGHT!!!!
It gives him terrible gas you see.

Thanks !!
That’s great
Yes, the games are mostly in good to very good condition I try to buy the best condition games that I can find.
That’s quiet a tall challenge especially at car boot sales as you know already finding an unmarked complete game with no scratches on the disc and the book and cover intact is the holly grail at car boot sales.
Anyway at least half the games are good to mint.
What’s the lowest standard of condition that you will allow in your collection ?
I have other games that I keep in a “dead pack” that means if the discs are mint they will not be counted in the collection until for instance a book or cover in good condition turns up at a boot sale.
I have a short hand list of about 10 games in this category at any one time.
Likewise there are games like psychic force and soul blade 2 that show up quiet often that are complete but are always turn up in poor condition Ive yet to find a decent example of either game (without scratches and without spending a pot of money)to put in my to collection.
Why do kids have to use the discs as coasters or Frisbees before you get them.
Anyway thanks for letting me join I also have a collection of ps2 games but the ps1 is much better by my standards for collecting games after all the graphics are superb and the only main reason for having this growing collection is that the 60gb PS3 does such a super job of up scaling the graphics.
I hardy look at ps3 games at the moment but one day in the not to distant future we will might be buying games ps3 games at a pound each just like we do now right ?
